Assesment Psikososial

(Middleton, 1997) The analytical process by which decisions are made. In social welfare context, it is a basis for planing what needs to be done to maintain or improve a person’s situation… Assessment involves gathering and interpreting irformation in order to understanding a person and their circumstances; the desirability and feasibility of change and the services and resources which are necessary to effect it. It involves making judgements based on information
(Milner and O’Byrne, 2002) We do not suggest that there is a single way to analyse human situations but encourage social workers to be reflextive and develop a pragmatic truth that fits social work situations in a way which is most satisfying for service users, the end product being a story that is helpful to all corcerned.
Assessment – The collection and processing of data to provide information for use in making decision about the nature of the problem and what is to be done about it – is a cognitive, thinking process; it involves thinking about data that have been collected. The outcome of assessment is a service plan, which provides a definition of the problem for work, objectives or solutions to be achieved, and an action plan to accomplish the objectives.
